by At-Risk.org Staff, on teen issues, teenage problems, teenagers, teenagers and gang, troubled teenagers

At some point gangs could be really a positive experience for teenagers, provided that they know their boundaries and keep it in an interpersonal level without the drugs and all those negative factors. Here are some of the reasons:

  • Developing social and interpersonal skills
  • A sense of personal responsibility, self-esteem,and self-efficacy
  • Reflective experience rather than impulsive action
  • Internal locus of control (for instance, the belief of being able to influence environment in a positive manner)
  • Flexible coping strategies, well-developed problem-solving skills and intellectual abilities
