How suicidals feel

by At-Risk.org Staff, on depression, teen isolation, teen issues, teenage loneliness, teenage suicide, troubled teenagers

Parents should know that suicide is not just an instant decision or attempt, because a teenager is awfully in pain and he or she just wants to get rid of it. Suicide is actually a premeditated drastic and dangerous action. Of course, there are trigger factors that push further the intention of a teenager to do it. Also, suicide affects every faculty of an individual. For example,  his or her thoughts and emotions change:

  • Unable to see beyond a narrow focus
  • Daydreaming
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Helplessness
  • Loss of self-worth
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Loneliness – lack of support from family and friends
  • Rejection, feeling marginalized
  • Deep sadness or guilt
